Sarmentine

Petaluma

Why go

The county's most authentic French bread and croissant.

Slow Food Snail of Approval

From a visit

The canelés are delicious, and anything with pistachios is worth a try. We love their fougasse, the yule log at Christmas, and the King Cake in January. I’ve yet to make a disappointing choice.

What it's known for

Artisanal organic French bakery with Slow Food USA's Snail of Approval, specializing in traditional long-fermentation sourdough levain. Exceptional croissants, handcrafted daily. European expats consistently rate it the most authentic bakery in the region. Three locations: Santa Rosa (52 Mission Circle), Petaluma (840 Petaluma Blvd N.), Sebastopol (6760 McKinley St.).
