About

Go Here.

An Opinionated Guide to Food, Stays, and Finds. Curated by one taste.

I moved to Sonoma in 2021, and then I did the strange thing people do when they finally live somewhere they used to dream about visiting: I stopped looking. The exploring I'd done as a visitor, the long drives for one good thing, the asking around until I found where locals actually go, all of it went dormant.

A weekend in Bodega Bay with girlfriends snapped me out of it. I remembered where I live. So I started doing at home what I do in every new city: immerse, ask, drive too far for a single great bakery, and keep a running list of what's worth your time. This guide is that list.

Wherever I go, I immerse myself. I learn how people live, what they cook, where they shop, what they're proud of, and I don't leave until I've found the good stuff and usually made friends. It's the same instinct every time: skip the obvious, find what's actually special. I've been told I have good taste for as long as I can remember. This is me putting it to use on the place I call home.

Most travel guides try to be comprehensive. This one is built to be trusted. Every place earns its spot by being good, not by being popular, paid for, or first in the algorithm's results. There are no affiliate links, no sponsored slots, and no rankings by crowd.

That means real opinions. When I've been somewhere, you get a firsthand take. When I haven't, the guide says so plainly and tells you why the place is on my radar. I also don't write takedowns. If something doesn't earn its place, it just isn't here. And if a spot I loved slips, it comes off the list.

The range is wide on purpose. A roadside bread cart can sit right next to a tasting-menu splurge, because the only question that matters is whether it's any good. I lean heavy on food, shopping, and culture, with some of the natural wonder that makes this county so stunning. Where my taste runs thin, I bring in friends who know more than I do, so the gaps get filled by people I trust.

How to read the designations

★ The Greats
Personal favorites. The drive-across-the-county set.
◆ Go-to
The everyday rotation. Where I land when I'm in town.
◎ On the list
Promising, not yet personally vetted. I'll always say when I haven't been.
◎ Local favorite
Insider picks tourists wouldn't otherwise find.
✦ Strip Mall Standout
Exceptional cooking in unassuming rooms. Stacks with any tier above.

Recognitions sit alongside, independent of what I think. Michelin stars, James Beard honors, and the rest are noted as recognitions, so a place can be celebrated everywhere and still only be On the list here.
